Below is an excerpt from Joe on how Elk hunting was going this year. I know since he sent me this e-mail gun season has opened and they have already had at least one bull hit the ground.

"We just finished the best muzzleloader elk season we have ever had. We had 9 guys see 14 bulls, pass 4 bulls and loose one big 6x6. We found most of them on our mountian, but at the bottom. I called one in last night that came in better than any in we encountered in September. He came in on a string running up to 150yrds and then hit our wind and stopped. The guy had a good shot oppurtunity but was not able to close the deal. I called another 350 bull in this morning but he was drug off buy his cows. They are rutting harder now than September!."

On the closing morning of Muzzleloader season one of Joe's clients was able to close the deal on a spike bull, their first Elk ever!

I have been lucky enough to be able to harvest an Elk for the past two years with Sherman Creek Outfitters. Joe and his staff have been able to call in two great bulls over the last two years and I was lucky enough to be able to put a good shot on them. You can see pictures of them on the website under the photos section for elk. Oh and did I mention that I took my first Bear ever the same day this year?
